Materials Required: length of wood around 300mm long, small container, plastic bucket, cloths, large adjustable wrench.TIP: With this particular job you need to make sure that you completely clean and dry all off all the washers, nuts, and surfaces before you begin reassembly. An Acton Plumber is skilled and can find faults and repair all kinds of plumbing problems. How to do it:Fill your plastic bucket with fresh cold water just so you can flush the loo in an emergency. Now, take the heavy lid off the top of the WC cistern and place it out of the way in a safe place so it is not damaged. Lay the wood across the top of the cistern, then with the twine tied in the centre of it, suspend the float in the fully up position so it cannot fall. The float controls water flow into the cistern. You can now flush the toilet and let all the water flow out. The cistern will not fill as the float is suspended and can’t operate the fill valve. Acton Plumbers can carry out emergency repairs. Place the outlet pipe to the side. It depends which model of siphon you have fitted as to how you carry on. However, undo the nut clamps, take off the wire that links the flush lever to the siphon top, and move the whole siphon out of the cistern. Now you can either:1). Replace the whole siphon completely.2). Or you can remove the pierced plastic plate that sits underneath the siphon, and also remove and replace the plastic flap valve. 3). Whichever you choose to do it is a very simple and straightforward operation. Finally, when you have fitted a new flap valve, or purchased a whole new unit, you simply reverse all the fitting procedures as already described, and the job is finally done.
